NYSERDA lists December 8 round for clean-energy apprenticeship training grants up to $900,000
Published 2026-10-06
NYSERDA's PON 5437 lists a December 8, 2026 application round for labor-affiliated clean-energy training programs. Base requests range from $150,000 to $750,000; a K-12 outreach element can add up to $150,000. This funds programs, not individual trainees.
NYSERDA's Apprenticeship and Pre-apprenticeship Clean Energy Training solicitation, PON 5437, lists Round 18 with a December 8, 2026 due date. The preceding October 6 round should not be treated as a still-open same-day opportunity this evening. This brief covers the listed later round, not a newly launched grant program.
The solicitation accepts requests between $150,000 and $750,000 per project. Projects that include K-12 career awareness and outreach within a training initiative can access up to an additional $150,000, for a total of $900,000. Cost share is encouraged but not required.
All applicants must be affiliated with bona fide labor organizations. Applicants must be registered to do business in New York State, have a New York training location and be in good standing. Recruitment, training and K-12 outreach must occur in New York, and training recipients must be state residents.
The funding is intended to create or expand direct-entry pre-apprenticeships, registered apprenticeship training and journey-worker training. Initiatives must include clean-energy technical training and hands-on experience for apprentices or journey workers. Eligible areas include building decarbonization and energy efficiency, renewable generation and electricity infrastructure, storage, and EV charging installation and repair.
This is an opportunity for eligible training organizations, not a $900,000 award offered directly to a person seeking a trade career. The portal lists application and budget documents that applicants should read before applying. This brief verifies the portal's schedule and summary, not the full application package or a guaranteed award.
